When not in possession of the Crown, the Canadian Pacific Railway owned the title and the records document the negotiation and compensation to the CPR to purchase the land often in exchange for land of greater value. Many of the early records concern Battleford Industrial School. Other schools include Elkhorn Industrial School and Regina Industrial School, The Pas, Cross Lake, McKay and Lebret.
