<dc:description>Over 200 typed and handwritten documents. Most of the earlier records concern alienation of Crown lands for the purpose of constructing an industrial or residential school. Many of the older records are histories of the schools. When not in possession of the Crown, the Canadian Pacific Railway owned the title and the records document the negotiation and compensation to the CPR to purchase the land often in exchange for land of greater value. Many of the early records concern Battleford Industrial School. Other schools include Elkhorn Industrial School and Regina Industrial School, The Pas, Cross Lake, McKay and Lebret. Files are in roughly chronological order with each folder often concerning a small number of schools.</dc:description>
