  <dc:description>A patrol report in this container, dated 19 July 1926, refers to the IRS at La Plonge Lake: "a large Indian school under the Roman Catholic Mission is established, the buildings are large frame structures, built from timber sawn on the spot by a saw operated by waterpower, the mission have two turbines operating an electric light plant as well..."And in the very same patrol report, in a paragraph regarding Isle A La Crosse, the report states that "Isle A La Crosse district is extensive and connected by water with Buffalo, Churchill and Isle A La Crosse Lakes, having hundreds of miles of shore line, the settlement contains a Roman Catholic Mission and school, lately destroyed by fire..." The school here was inspected by Mr Taylor and the children examined by the Doctor." [3 pages flagged]In a memorandum, S/Sergt Sheppard, "Re Treaty Payment-- Thunderchild Reserve," 30 June 1925, it is stated that "This band appears to be in fair circumstance, they have a new school in which they appear to take a great interest, there is an average attendance of thirty eight."
